The Bellevue Arts Museum (BAM) features many art installations, inside and outside the entry of the museum. Admission is free for the forum of the museum, where most of Bellwether’s art is installed.

BAM is open Wednesday – Sunday, 11 am – 5 pm. Masks required.

Swallowing Silence: A discussion on Power and Censorship in the Arts
A panel discussion between Erin Shigaki and Anida Yoeu Ali, moderated by Ploi Pirapokin.

Saturday, September 11 | 12 – 3 pm | Performance begins and ends at BAM
Anida Yoeu Ali: The Red Chador: Genesis I
Performance and procession by Anida Yoeu Ali that engages public spaces both outdoors and indoors bringing a hypervisibility to both issues of Islamophobia and homophobia. Seven performers or chadoras create a moving rainbow spectrum, an intentional colorful spectacle to reclaim the gaze of the Muslim woman. The performance itself begins with the seven chadoras inside the museum and ends with the performers in a procession in and around the city blocks of Bellevue.

Saturday, September 11 | 11 am – 5 pm
Jesus Benavente: We Built This With The Weapons You Gave Us
Collaborative/interactive brick drawings in front of BAM. Bricks created by participants will be moved to Court of Light for a faux-fire pit and seating to be exhibited for the duration of Bellwether.

Full Disclosure: Pop-up Art Show & Market
This art show and market will provide a space for artists to display and/or sell their personal or collaborative works with transparency of making in mind. The popup’s theme, “Exposed” highlights the uncovering of methods of making and exploring processes from sketching, planning, handling materials, and execution.
