Sarah Gilbert
Tacoma, WA
On view at the Bellevue Arts Museum
Originally from Rochester, New York, Gilbert started working with glass in 2000. She received her BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2005, and in 2006 she moved out to the Pacific Northwest to work as a member of the Museum of Glass Hot Shop team in Tacoma, Washington. She has been there ever since, assisting artists from around the world in making their work in addition to developing her own practice. Her work was included in Young Glass at the Glasmuseet Ebeltoft in Denmark, Transparency: An LGBTQ+ Glass Art Exhibition at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington, and she recently had a solo show at the Vetri gallery in Seattle called Perfect Strangers. When not in the studio, she can be found exploring the Pacific Northwest with her forever puppy, Pistol.
Get Lost
Layering imagery using light and shadow, “Get Lost” is meant to either invite you to loose yourself and find new avenues, or get out and leave—take it as you will.
