Niko Dimitrijevic holds an MFA from the Ohio State University and has worked as part of the Museum of Glass hot shop team in Tacoma, Washington as part of William Morris’s glass team, and as a studio assistant for Ann Hamilton. He currently resides in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan where he owns and operates Yellow Light Coffee & Donuts.

Objects Signal

There are spaces that exist between significant leaps in progress in one’s practice where it is easy to feel lost, and research as far as making is concerned can be productive whilst simultaneously confusing. Trusting that something will land in these gaps can be unsettling and full of discomfort, because some roads end with a cul-de-sac, while others have a bridge waiting. That’s what these photographs were for me; an exercise of standing alone in a dark field building a vocabulary with materials both tangible and not, and ending up with many more questions than answers. They were a bridge.
