On view at the Bellevue Arts Museum
Having decided to pursue a career engaged with materials while still in High School, Megan earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Emporia State University’s glass program. Upon graduating, she relocated to Washington state to apprentice with preeminent glass sculptor Karen Willenbrink-Johnson and quickly began to create ties amongst the vibrant international glass community through working and teaching in various studios and schools. Driven and energized by the rewards of sharing her media passion, teaching became and continues to be an essential component of Megan’s creative life. Always looking to expand and grow, Megan began to study neon techniques and, under the tutelage of artist Jeremy Bert, quickly incorporated her new skills into her sculptural practice. Her evocative visual language of blown glass and neon symbols has been enthusiastically embraced and exhibited at the Museum of Neon Art in Glendale, California, Heller Gallery in New York City, the Traver Gallery in Seattle, the Sabbia Gallery in Sydney, Australia, as well as the seminal New Glass Now exhibition at the Corning Museum of Glass. After years of studying studios around the country, Megan has recently co-founded Gray Barn Studios with her husband Conor McClellan and partners Nicole and James Anderegg in Arlington, Washington.
