The Passing Stars
Total running time – 3:40
The Passing Stars is made to emulate a constellation in which every person passing becomes one among the stars. The natural beauty of the universe is evoked to reveal connections between us and the rest of the world that often stay hidden in plain sight. As people move through the galaxy of stars, the light is extruded in their shape, living light trails of their presence across the star-scape.
The piece was recorded using Maja Petric’s custom interactive system that is programmed to recognize people in space, detect their bodies, record their silhouettes, and display them in the shape of stars.
