Electric Coffin
Electric Coffin is a Seattle-based artist collaboration between Duffy De Armas and Stefan Hofmann exploring the intersection of art and commerce.
Electric Coffin is coded within art history and ideologies from archetypes of mysticism. We explore found truths from modernity and a personal historical perspective. A process-driven studio practice and narratively informed dogma guide us, synthesizing perception through the use of created and found iconography and typography. We are inspired by a number of sources both material and ephemeral; sources which encompass knowledge, culture, the physical remains of industry, mass production, communication, and commerce.

The kaleidoscope is a representation of the expansion and shifting of perspective; something you normally see singularly is multiplied, reflected, rotated, and altogether changed. This work allows opportunities to look at something differently while also maintaining the context of your original perspective.
Our practice is not dissimilar to the action of a kaleidoscope. Through the use of shifted meanings and decoded ideologies, our studio practice manifests these explorations through several mediums and modes of visual exploration, ultimately offering an alternative understanding to the ongoing spectacle of contemporary culture.
